The main church in Norway is the Lutheran church, with the Nidaros cathedral in Trondheim as the jewel in the crown. The catholic church in Trondheim, which is just across the street from the catheadrl, is just a small one, with a small congreation. But over the years, most of all because of a growing immigrant population, the catholic church has become too small, and a new, bigger one, will be built.
These days they are demolishing the old church, the one which looks like it is built completely of glass. I am curious to see what the new one will look like.

One of Trondheim´s great men, the painter Håkon Bleken, made the huge altar pice in the old church. A discussion has been going on about what to do with it as it would not fit into the new church. This article (in Norwegian only) tells the story.
