After living in Trondheim for 50 years I always think I know everything about the city. Still, while doing my photo walks, which I do several times a week, I always find new details. It always makes me happy ......and I have been thinking that like Donna Leon's Commissario Brunetti, I would like to give myself a treat every time I find something new. He visits a bar and enjoys a drink, I might have coffee somewhere, or buy myself yet another book.....
This time my eyes were drawn to the light shining out of the windows in the old part of Trondheim Cathedral School. The candeliers reminded me of Venezia. And while looking up I saw this old sign, in latin letters.

"monumentum pietatis thomae angeli" ... = the monument was built to the devotion of Thomas' angels ???? (could it be so ?)
I'm interested in the meaning of this sentence - Do you know the historical meaning ? Any link with Thomas d'Aquin and his theory about angels' language, do you think ? I wonder ...

Angell is anold family name here in Trondheim. Thomas Angellwas a well known man in the city. He had alot of money and spent alot of it on buildings.
