The first Easter egg bags have new owners

Travelling as often to Italy as we do means that we get friends here. Very good friends. Coming down all the way from Norway I love to bring gifts, and I felt very happy when I decided I could give away these handknitted bags. I love receiving handmade stuff myself, and can only hope that those who gets the bags like them a little too :-)

The first Easter egg bags have been filled with chocolate, tiny little kinder eggs bought at the coop here in Murano. Yesterday four of them were given away, and I know that one of the girls who got one started to eat the chocolate right away.

Today two other bags got new owners.......

.......and I realize I must keep on to knit more. Luckily I brought my cotton yarn leftovers, I brought needles and all what I need to make the bags. And in between exploring Venice, meeting friends and doing my studies, I hope to get some knitting done.

 

 

By the way, god påske means Happy Easter.

 

On the plane

I was up already at 4.30 this morning, to be sure to reach the first plane. Therefore I had planned to sleep from Trondheim to Oslo, and had packed my knitting in my backpack which I placed in the overhead compartment. I sat down on seat F, and soon two women found their places at D and E. Can you imagine my surprise when both of them took up their knitting....... I was halp asleep already, but their knitting chats followed me into my dreams.

By the way - take a little look at the yellow "ball" in the lady in seat E´s lap. Can you see what it is? It is a tiny little hat to put on top of the Easter egg :-)

.......yes, I plan to copy it, and will give you the pattern.

On the next plane, from Oslo to Frankfurt, I started the bundad stockings for Leander. I had planned to do plane knitting on them, but as the written pattern I had said something else, I changed my mind.......and I am very happy I did.

I will show you more of them later.

Packing for the Italian month

My April in Italy starts tomorrow. Terje will drive me to the airport very early, before going to work. I will fly to Oslo, then from Oslo to Frankfurt and from Frankfurt to Venice. I plan to have a late luch on Murano. Ahhh, pizza margherita :-). I have had my grandson here today, actually he has been with us since Sunday. His father, our son in law, just picked him up, and now it is time to start packing.  One month. One suitcase. And there are so many books, so much knitting.......

I plan to knit a jacket and a pair of stockings for the old toddler bunad Leander will wear for May 17th. Not the bunad I showed you the other day, which is already too small, but the other one I have saved for more than 30 years. The knickers, the vest and the shirt can be reused, but to complete the outfit, I need to make the stockings and a wool jacket as May 17 is always cold in Norway.

This will be a perfect "on the go"-knitting. And as Terje is coming down in a few days and will stay for two weeks, I don´t need to pack all the yarn now. I can start with the stockings and hopefully finish them and send them back in Terje´s suitcase. And he can bring more yarn down :-) A perfect plan.

Some spring ideas for the winter scarf

We have spent the weekend with my family in law, south west in Norway, not far from Stavanger. Leaving full winter in Trondheim, we came down to quite mild temperatures, and a nice beginning spring. Pure bliss! We were out walking Saturday afternoon, went to the graveyard to visit family graves, and when we passed the vicarage I saw the perfect spot for some knitting photos. Remember, I am working on the two shades of grey scarf which I started the morning when all my spring flowers were covered in snow. I looked up at my husband: "Terje, we need to come back here tomorrow, then I will bring my knitting. You see, I have some ideas!"

This morning we were back. The grey scarf with the purple crocuses. Isn´t it perfect :-)

Wouldn´t the scarf look great with a kind of purple crocus pin?
Now I must think of something.......

 

Long winter, long knitting

This is what I woke up to. And it continued to snow throughout the day. Winter in Norway lasts for more than half of the year, good for me then that I can wrap myself in soft, handknitted wool.

We are ready for another weekend away from home, with travel time for knitting. This time we are flying south west in Norway, to Stavanger, and will drive a couple of hours from there to the little village where my husband was born. The reason - a 60th birthday celebration. I have several socks to be on needles, all perfect to bring with me on a travel, but something I saw in a craft store in Stockholm last weekend inspired me to start a knitted scarf.

Alpaca yarn from Drops, two shades of grey, 100 stickes on needles #3 1/2.
I´ll keep you updated, and if life goes as I have planned tonight, I have some special toddler socks to show you tomorrow..........

Deep concentration in Stockholm

My husband and I are in Stockholm for a few days, visiting our oldest son. As yesterday was Friday it was a workday for him, but he would manage to quit work when lunch berak came. After a lovely walk in Gamla Stan/The Old Town, in the morning, we took the tube to the area where his work is, and sat waiting for him in a park outside his office. The sun was out, and after a long winter we could finally feel it was actually warming us. I had my knitting in my purse, and took the opportunity to work on it.......I wonder why I look so serious when I should be smiling broadly.......

In the morning, while walking in Gamla Stan, I looked for yarn shop. Unfortunately the one I found was closed.

So these "through the window" photos are the only ones I got.

I did find and open Gudrun Sjödén store though, and had an amazing time buying a new wardrobe.
