In 1956 the Winter Olympics were held in Corina in Italy. Knitting companies in Norway have had a tradition for many, many years to design a special Olympic sweater, and the one in 1956, Cortinagenseren, the Cortina Sweater, was designed by Dale of Norway.
A traditional pattern, made new. That is how it is done every 4th year.
My mother knitted the Cortina sweater in 1956, one for her and
one for her husband to be, my father.
I have inherited the one she knitted for herself, the one for my father has gone to Iceland, to my brother Børge.
Dale of Norway has a modern version of the sweater out now. You find it here.
