Inspiration from a 1940 royal sweater

The above photo is of prince Harald in 1940. The prince Harald then is His Royal Highness King Harald of Norway now. If you look closely at the pattern in this sweather, you might see that it is the same as the Christmas baubles I made a few days ago. Or almost the same.

I have fallen in love with this pattern, which has the name dovre, and yesterday I bought some red and white yarn for another Christmas stocking. Using the dovre pattern. The stockikng is what I am working on tonight, and I might show you a photo of the progress tomorrow. The first step is always the most exciting. I am sitting in a small hotel room, somewhere in Norway. I am knitting, and all of a sudden I knew it was time to start a knitting blog. Maskerade, masquerade, playing with words as maske is the Norwegian word for a knitted stich, rad is a row. Knitted stich in a row - maskerade.
