We have spent a few hours at Uffizi today, the oldest museum in Modern Europe, started back in 1591 by Francesco I de Medici. In between the more (for me) well known paintings, I found one called The Three Archangels and Tobias, by Francesco Botticini. I think what made me see it was the word Tobias. You see, almost every time I visit Venice, I read Miss Garnet´s Angel by Salley Vickers. The Apocryphe tale about Tobias and the Archangel Gabriel plays an important role in Miss Garnet´s Angel. I have visited the church in Venice where part of the story is set, and I have read the apocryphe tale several times.
Looking at Botticini´s painting, my eyes fell on Tobias´wrist.
Can you see it? Wouldn´t this make a most amazing knitted wrist warmer :-)
