In the historic center in Mexico City you find Casa de los Azulejos, The House of Tiles from the 16th century.
A cup of tea in the busy teahouse is a sanctuary for sore feet while you once again look though your guidebooks. wondering what to see next.
I spent a week in Mexico City in August 2008, attending the HIV-AIDS conference. The days were filled with meetings, but as I stayed right in the middle of the historic center, it was easy to spend the breaks sightseeing.
Casa de los Azulejos contains today a store selling bric a bracs, and a restaurant, together with the teahouse where I could rest my feets. All very different from its former days, still you could find tracks of former pomp and circumstance, especially while walking the huge staircase. There it was hard to decide where to rest the eyes - on the amazing murals, the beautiful stairs or the intricate tiles.
I had to walk up and down several times......
I order one more cup of tea. My feet are soon fit for another walk.....
But first I take just one more walk around Casa de los Azulejos.
