It started quite slowly many years ago, the Christmas Market at the marketplace in Trondheim. Then it grew, and grew and grew, and today it is the biggest Christmas market in Norway. Terje and I visited last Sunday, after we had done our "duty" for the Salvation Army, but we wanted to visit again, so after more Black Sunday cleaning and baking, we drove downtown for a very pleasant couple of hours. Choirs singing, theatre performances and old wooden shopping boots.
I was done with the Christmas gifts, so now I had the pleasure of shopping for myself. And the first thing I decided when I saw this beautiful group of angels, was that I needed an angel, a blue one, for my nativity village.
They sell handmade, high quality stuff at the Christmas Market. No cheap plastic "made in china", and I loved walking around, finding a few gifts for myself. One area is for Christmas trees, and people were busy selecting the biggest and most beautiful one. Another area is for the food market, Farmer´s Market. A huge tent filled with local food. Now Terje´s strong hand came very useful.
With arms filled with heavy bags, we couldn´t resist a bratwurst each before going home.......feeling a bit sad to know that it is a whole year till the market opens again.
