When I first started to dream about exhibiting my nativities, I knew I wanted to do it for a purpose, and it didn´t take me long to come up with the idea of a fundraising for the women of Nepal. The visit I had in Nepal in April 2013 made a huge impact on me, and the people there will for ever have a special place in my heart.
Sharmila is a young woman from Nepal who lives here in Trondheim with her husband and their beautiful little daughter. Sharmila came to the exhibition, she brought a traditional dessert from her homeland, some kind of milk dumplings, which tasted heavenly. And she told us about the conditions for girls and women in Nepal.
Trafficking, sex trade, rapes, abuse........you find it all. And as Sharmila said, younger and younger girls are raped.
It is not possible for us to celebrate Christmas with our eyes closed for the rest of the world.
A little baby boy was born here in Trondheim this week. The future for him looks safe, sunny, filled with love.
A little baby girl was born in Nepal this week. The future for her, what will it be.......
At the opening of the exhibition we also had some music. My mother on the piano, my brother with his viola. Music is always a blessing. Especially when it is played by someone you love. And played so well.
The nativities were the main focus of the night of course. Here is one I bought in Portugal in July. It is my favorite, and I have been looking so much forward to display it :-)
