From the nobelprize.org:
The Nobel Peace Prize 2015 was awarded to National Dialogue Quartet "for its decisive contribution to the building of a pluralistic democracy in Tunisia in the wake of the Jasmine Revolution of 2011".
Today is the Nobel Peace Prize day. The National Dialogue Quartet is in Oslo and will get their well deserved prize. Tonight is the night for the big Nobel Peace Concert.
When I walked through Oslo yesterday, the hotel where the winners are staying, was surrounded by armed police. A scary sight night in Norway, where it is only very recently the police has been allowed to carry weapons. As I stopped to get my photo, on my phone as I had no camera with me, my heart started to beat faster. Seeing the armed police, which should made me feel safe, made me feel so vulnerable, so scared. I wanted to walk away as soon as possible.
And as I walked away I couldn´t stop thinking. A peace prize leading to a city filled with weapons. There is something wrong here!
Then a middleaged woman came over to me and handed me a piece of paper. Grandmother´s for Peace. I usually pass by people wanting to give me something in the street, but this one was for me. Grandmother´s for Peace. Now I am one of them! I want to fight for the world to be a safe place for my grandchild. I want our weapons to be dialogue, friendship, openness, caring.......
