December 1st, and time to let the first candle in the Advent wreath shine.
As usual I have made my wreath using 4 big purple candles planting them in between stuff I collect in nature.
The grandchildren are here this weekend. Leander 9, Milian almost 6, Vida 4 (and Eline 1, she will come only today) This is a tradition we started a few years ago, a weekend during Advent with the grandchildren, when we focus on making Christmas gifts, baking, having fun.
One of the things the kids have done this weekend is decorate small clay pots with hyacinth. One by one they came down to my basement flower studio with me, to make their own pot. And the result is great, don´t you agree?
Advent is traditionally a time to prepare for the birth of Christ. Then, over the years it has more and more become a period of consumption, of shopping of busy activities. I want to keep these four weeks days of quiet, of being, giving them another focus. And I want to bring this on to future generations.
