I called my parents after breakfast to let them know that a cousin of mine and his wife would come for lunch. They live in the southern tip of Norway so we do not see them often. "May be you want to come as well?" I asked.
Not long afterwards mum and dad were here, and we managed a few photos in the garden before the rain started.
Snails are not the only thing I knit these days, quite a few mini mittens also find their way from my needles and out into the world. Small skeins of left over yarn, colour inspiration from the garden, 2-3 hours of knitting and there another mitten is finished.
My plan is to make a girland for the greenhouse. So far I have six mittens, so still a way to go.
Knitting these tiny mittens, on needles 2mm, is a challenge for my stiff fingers. So from time to time I do some thing else. Like painting.
Snails in the garden, we do not like them much, do we? I am lucky, I do not have too many not those terrorist snails which eat everything, still, there are more than enough to get rid of, and during the summer months I fight the battle the best I can.
Luckily not all snails are demons, some are cute as buttons and made to be loved to the moon and beyond.
You see, I have a growing family of knitted snails in my garden. small skeins of left over yarn, a pair of needles, 13ish stitches and a few hours, and a new snail is born. So far this snail family has three members, but it is growing fast.
I talk about the snails and also describe in detail how I make them in the most previous episode of Britt Arnhild´s World:
A new knitted top for the summer. In the colours of the Venetian lagoon.
I ordered Terje to come out in the greenhouse with me yesterday. To take photos and also some footage to use in my video. He is easy to ask, I am a bit more difficult to satisfy, but after a few tries we were where I wanted us to be :-)
The new episode is out today:
