The gate to eventyret, the land of fairytales

I know where the gate to eventyret (the fairytale) is. It is not always easy to find. Some days it is there, right in front of you, other days it is hidden, you can search high and low without finding it.

Once you find the gate, don't be afraid to walk though it. Make sure to leave most of what you always carry behind, bring good shoes, open eyes and a beating heart.

And start walking.

The world behind the gate is a world of magic. A world to stir your imagination, your creativity.

The very strange thing about this world of eventyret is that though you can't bring anything with you in there, you can always bring things out. The gate is like that. A magic gate.

Time is of no importance in this land behind the gate. A minute, an hour, days. No matter how short, how long, the land of eventyret always have its gifts to offer you. To fill your mind, your body, your heart.

You have never found that gate, you say? Are you sure? Well, I know it is there, not right in front of you, but take a look over your shoulder, no, not the right one, your left shoulder. Can you see it? Yes, I knew you could :-)

Why not go for a hike there just now. Leave your chores and worries behind, go searching for the adventure.

End of vacation, and then what?

Terje have had 5 weeks off work this summer. It has been lovely weeks, partly at home, partly travelling in Norway, partly at the cabin. This is the last vacation weekend, Monday morning Terje is going back to work. Since March and almost till his vacation started, Terje worked from home because of the corona lockdown, but from Monday morning he will bicycle down to his office early in the morning, bicycle back home in the afternoon. Everything as usual.

For me nothing will be as usual. For the first time I will not go back to work after the summer vacation, but stay at home as a retired.

My last day at work was April 2nd, then I had April as my vacation time, which made May 1st the start of my new life. Then Terje was still at home, everything was so strange because of the lockdown, so much happened even though we spend most of our time at home. The pandemic is still a threat for the whole world, but for the moment the situation here in Norway is almost like normal. Of course we must take care, wash our hands, use antibac, keep distance, we can't go to Stockholm to see Torgeir, Torgeir cannot come here, but still, our every day life feels quite normal.

And in the middle of this almost normality, my life will not at all be the same. Of course none of us have any clue what life has up in its sleeves for us, what the view around the next corner will be. But I hope that the days, weeks, months, hopefully years ahead will be good ones, where the road rises to meet me.
