Knitting the rainbow

We saw in the news today that children around the world are painting the rainbow, a sign of hope in these difficult times. I am knitting the rainbow for the moment. Also a sign of hope. It started as part of my rainbow calendar during the period of Lent, where I have had the rainbow focus for many years, even since I wrote the book about Lent and its tradition back in 2008.

This year I knit small balls in the colours of the rainbow.

I call them my praying balls.

Prayers in every stitch.

Many of the prayers are thanks, others are fear, sorrow, desperation and a "please help our world Heavenly Father"

Strange days

The corona virus, a world wide concern, making great impact on our everyday life, on our living the way we are used to. I stay at home, work from home the last few days before I retire, I read, I knit, I have long, nice meals together with Terje, I talk with the kids and my parents on the phone, I FaceTime the grandkids, I watch the birds in the garden, longing for the snow to melt faster, I drink tea and write my diary in the greenhouse, I go for long hikes in the woods just behind our house, I go shopping for my parents......an all in all have very good good days, though I am concerned, even scared.

Where will this lead us?

 

Let us stay together these days, these weeks, these months. Let us do what the authorities ask from us. Let is pray. Let us love. Let is take care.

I refuse to wait any more

Still cold, still snow, still deep frost in the soil, but now I refuse to wait any more.......

I drove over to a local garden center after breakfast, filled up my stock of sunflower seeds for the birds, and bought quite a few pots of spring flowers to plant in the greenhouse. A hellebores, a few irises, a bunch of daffodils.

Soon I had a cozy corner where I could sit down with a mug of tea and my greenhouse journal.

Last steps towards retirement

I am walking the last steps (/weeks) towards retirement. April 2nd is my last day at work and I am now busy saying goodbyes. Yesterday I had the last day together with all the deacons in the diocese.

The day started with a morning prayer in one of the small chapels in the cathedral, where I could serve together with one of our priests.

Then continued with workshops in the Archbishop´s Palace.

And.......in the end, cake, flowers, gifts, nice words.
I really feel so blessed.
