Yesterday I took you to the old farm where my father was born. Today we are in the house next door, where the cousin of Bente, who now lives on the farm, has his home with his husband. His name is Ole K, and his father, the man to the left in the picture, is my father´s childhood friend. Over the years, though living far apart, our families have tied many different knots. After having had coffee in the old farm, we were invited over to Ole K and his family for lunch.
Music is one of the very strong knots between our two families. Ole K and my brother Torodd have played together, violin and viola, with my mother on the piano, ever since they were young boys. This year Old K plays in the opera orchestra while Torodd conducts.
After lunch there had to be a house concert of course. No practice had been done, still it sounded like music from paradise.
Ole K plays on many different strings, like weaving damask fabric for the local bunad, regional costume. But that´s a tale for another day.

I continue to play with YouTube and today´s film is from the greenhouse:
Some homes are so filled with inspiration, you can feel it a long time before the door opens for you.
Terje and I, my parents and our son Øystein with his Silje, had coffee in the old farmstead where my father was born in 1933 ands lived for 13 years, until his family moved to Trondheim. Grandpa Johannes and grandma Ragna Josefine sold the farm. My father has stayed in contact with the family who bought the place, and from time to time dad wants to go back to his childhood. Then the house is open to him, and also to his family.
Bente, who lives on the small farm now, is a lovely, creative woman. She has filled the house with antiques and vintage "stuff" and made it into a paradise just after my heart.
Bente is a knitter, and during our visit yesterday, when she took us around in her home, I asked if it was okay to photograph some of her knitted items.
It was. And I was thrilled :-)
I plan to make a proper post from our weekend in Britt-Arnhilds dagboksblader, but while waiting for that I hope you enjoy some knitting inspiration.
Thank you very much Bente for opening your home and heart for us.
I have been down to the river again today, to watch the birds.
Last week there were at least seven swans there. Today I found only one.
A whooper swan must be among the most beautiful creatures on earth.

Tomorrow I hope to post a video from the river on YouTube. Today there is one from the places in the garden where I feed the garden birds. I am so sorry you got no sound on yesterday´s video Ardi. I just checked ands the sound is there okay.
