Leander is spending a few days with us, giving us a perfect occation to have lunch out in the garden.
Sausages wrapped in potato lefse, spiced with ketchup. As simple as it can be. As good as it can be.
Before eating, Leander and I walked over to the neighbors to say hello to their hens.
And their only rooster.

I have been dreading the sewing and cutting part for some time. But when I finally sat down to do it, by fingers knew exactly what to do, remembering from a hundred other cardigans made over the years.
A few hours´work, and then it was all done.
Leander wore his new setesdalskofte for the first time today. He is spending the weekend with his garndparents, we took him out shopping, and already in the first store - Oh my! What a cute sweater!
My heart beamed.

I am recovering from yet another sinus infection (and a head cold). After visiting the doctor today I felt well enough for a short walk, and drove to a place not far from the doctor´s office which I knew would be perfect for a short hike.
No bevers to be seen, but easy to see that they had been there.

I am having so much fun making up tales about the squirrels in our garden. You already know about my squirrel blog, Familien Fr-Nøtt (the Seed-Nut Family), where the squirrel mother Fru Solsikke Frø-Nøtt (Mrs Sunflower Seed-Nut) tells about her life in the garden.
I was watching this little squirrel today, finding his way into the squirrel safe feeder, like all our squirrels do. And all of a sudden I had a tale ready.
A tale about the squirrel boy Kokos (Coco) playing hide and seek with his sisters Pea and Kongle (Pinecone)
Kokos was so sure Pea and Kongle would never find him in there. But all of a sudden they did, and he had to run for his life.......
.......so fast that I never got a photo.

I fininished all the knitting I can do so far on Leander´s sweater during the seminar today. No I need the sewing machine to sew seamsn where I shall cup open for the sleeves to be put in, but this can´t be dome here of course.
At first I thought, oh no, still more hours to sit and listen, and I have no more knitting to do! Then I looked at the left over yarn, trying to figure out if there was something I could do with it. And yes, it was! A pair of writing warmers, using the same traditional pattern as in Leander´s sweather.
Mardelle, Rauma yarn is nice and has some wonderful colours, but as you say, it can be a bit rough. Here I am using baby ull/baby woll from Dale Garn/Yarn. Here you have a link. Dale Garn, which is a Norwegian company, sells in North America also. Look here.

I am in Oslo for three day. Or rather, I am in a hotel near the airport. Far from everything. After long days of meeting, it is heaven to sit alone in my hotel room. Some music from the iPad, a book, and a lot of knitting.
The sweather for Leander is coming along so nicely. Now I am really looking forward to finish it.

There is something sad, at the same time beautiful and fascinating about old abandoned houses.
Life lived and loved through generations.
I have collected photos of abandoned houses for years and years.
Some times I look at one or a few of them. Imagining life as it have been. A little girl sleeping behind a window. A father up and out before dawn to row fishing. A grandmother singing for her newborn grandchild. Preparations for a funeral. A birth. A wedding. Man and wife making love.
A man building a house using his hands, for himself and his wife to be. Dreams in every nail he turned in. Years passed. Generations. And one day the house was empty. Walls painted by laughter and wiping
Columbines outside the wall inspires me to write a tale.
Beauty in hardship.

We had planned a day sunbathing near the pool, but the sun did not play on our team, so instead we drove east. Lunch in a small fishing village just like we love to do it, and then a hike along the lava fields in Malpais de Güimar.
Malpais is a nature reserve, and we had some challenges to find where to park the car and start walking. No signs were set up, so we drove around a little, but Terje was determined to hike and never gave up. Happy and thankful was I for that when we walked along the sea with its huge swells coming in.
I would gladly change this with all the fireworks in the world.
The land was mostly barren, but here and there you found a sparkling green plant. It must thrive on salt water, as I know some plants do.
Until a few decades ago these small bassins were used to fill saltwater in. After a few days the sun would evaporate the water, leaving the salt which was used for cooking and preserving the food.
There is a volcano crater in the reserve, Montana Grande. We would like to hike it, but did not have time enough, so it is put on our list for a later visit.
