He has made preparations for several days. Reading the recipe, making a shopping list, grocery shopping and then last night, late, after we came home from the theatre, making the batter.
Then today, home from work, eating dinner, having a nap.......and finally he was ready.
To bake kakemenn or white cookies as they are called also. We never baked these cookies in my childhood home, but for Terje they are The cakes of Christmas. Every year as long as we have been married, he has made them. First the baking, then the decorations. Red and green food colour, the back side of a match and suddenly the men and women got eyes and mouths, the hearts got a border, the pigs curly tails.
I managed to take photos of the cookies once they were out of the oven. My next plan was to photograph Terje´s hands (the hands I love so much) decorating. But he was too fast for me. I was up in my studio writing Christmas letters, and when I came down he was already finished, the cookies in tins and safe down in the cold room in the basement.
