I am home alone for a couple of days. Yesterday morning was a beautiful morning, I was out in the garden to take photos of my new green house, and later I went downtown for a photo walk. Then the weather started to change. The birds were the first to let me know. They were so busy at the feeders, I knew something was going on.
Then it started to rain,
and soon a strong wind followed.
The House in the Woods is sheltered from the hardest storm, but this time, the first autumn storm of the year, it hit relatively hard here as well.
I slept well during the night, with an open window. Listening to the rain and wind lured me into a deep, refreshing sleep.
This morning I walked through the garden, curious to see what the storm did.
A few plums, still not ripe, have fallen down.
The dahlias, my pride, are strong and have conquered both the heavy rain and the stron wind.
But the hollyhooks? They are totally bent over, but not broken, so with a little help I hope that they will rise again.
As I continue my walk I see that there is quite some work to be done in the garden today.
Hopefully the rain will stop, making gardening a little nicer :-)
