Can you remember the cherry tree we planted at the cabin some years ago? Since then the tree has had a hard life. There is too little soil for the roots to thrive, and the hill here is too dry. This spring we thought the tree had died, but then, down just over the earth, we found life in one of the branches. The branch grew, a few flower came and then the cerries started to form. And to grow.
At every new visit out here we have curiously checked the cherry tree. "Are the cherries eaten by the birds yet?"
For some unknown reason the birds have saved the cherries for us, and today I picked them all. Three cheeries! Sweet, fat, tempting.
Terje and I shared them sisterly, which means one for him, two for me :-)
