The garden, a place for travels

My brother Børge, who lives in Iceland, called me today: "Britt Arnhild, last week when our brother Frode visited Iceland for a few days, I took him to a quarry with some very special porous, red lava stones. I picked a huge one and decided that next time I travel to Trondheim by business class, I will bring the stone in an extra suitcase. I want to start a special Iceland Garden in The Blue Garden.

"Yes!" I smiled. "That would be lovely!"

Being a gardener is so much fun :-)

At the cabin

We have spent a few days at the cabin. Lazy days in the sun, enjoying this view from early morning till late night.

Most of the time we have spent on the cabin terrace, in the cabin garden or in the forrest surrounding the cabin. Sunday we did a hike though, up on top of our favorite mountain.......

.......from where we can see all the way to the end of the world.

Terje has project going on always,

and so have I :-)

When a heart stops to beat

A dear friend died today, after fighting cancer, brain tumors, for 2 1/2 years. A husband, a father, a brother, an uncle, a friend, a colleaugue, a neighbour. One man´s death open up so many wounds. So much sorrow.

But also so many good memories. So much love. So much lived life.

We never know the length of the path set up for us here on earth. We do know that now is now, and now is meant to be lived with all senses. With an open heart.

Green, creations first colour

"Fifty shades of green" is nothing compared to all the greens in my garden right now. I was out watering tonight when I saw the sun playing hide and seek through the iris leaves. I had to give watering a break, and ran in to grab my camera. The artwork was too good to be missed. Having a garden means that you can attend free art exhibitions every night.

I was writing about the greens in our garden in my garden blog just now, and wrote that green is the first colour used in the Bible. When I checked Genesis 1 to write this post, I see that the Norwegian and the English translation differs. In vers 11 in the Norwegian Bible God says: "Let the Earth be green". In the English one, at least the one I found while doing a google search, God says: "Let the land produce vegetation."

 

  

Garden life

After a busy period with days on the road mostly, I am now trying to catch my breath again.

The best place to do that is in the garden.

Weeding. Replanting. Watching the birds and the squirrels. Watering. More weeding. Photographing.

And most of all.......breathing.

 

Shades of white

Some time ago I bought a beautiful book, filled with amazing pictures about the colours of the garden. When I first saw the title of the book I knew that it was one I had to have. Then the book arrived and it was not at all what I had expected. A lovely book, though very different from the images I had made up in my mind. This was actually a good thing, because the images I had created opened up for a new creative path in my life, the path where the #365coloursofthegarden or #365fargerihagen as I say in Norwegian, grow.

I post my #365fargerihagen photos in my instagram account @akeleiehagen and also link them to my facebook page. Instagram is a medium for sharing photos and qiute short texts, so I add just one or two sentences, but the flowers and the colours I share, follow me though the day.

For some days now I have been exploring the whites in the garden. I am amazed by how many different shades of white there are.

Reflecting upon the small things in nature, like the different shades of a colour, as an amazing way to help you love Creation and The Creator. To help you see the importance of taking care of life in every shade. To help you seek sustainability in your everyday choices.
