In 1930 grandma Olga and grandpa Benjamin bought the house in Lagnmann Dreyers gate in Trondheim where all their four children grew up, John, Solbjørg, Marta and Oddrun. All of them still alive, all of them 80+ today.
John, Solbjørg, Marta and Oddrun had 15 kids, 14 of us still alive. One in Iceland, one in Sweden, the rest of us in Norway, from south to north.
When our cosin Berit Olga died of cancer in December last year, we cousins decided that in the future we don´t want to meet in funerals only. Last nights meeting came directly out of that.
The red house in Lagmann Dreyers gate played an important role in our family from 1930 until my parents sold it 8 years ago. Many of us cousins have lived here. I spent my first year in the house, later, after High School I moved here and Terje and I spent our first married years here. Our oldest son Torgeir was born here.
Yesterday my mother, her brother and one of her sisters met in the old garden. 10 of us cousins came as well.
Later in the evening one more cousin came, and the "younger generation" had dinner at a restaurant downtown.
Family tales as dessert.
