When Torgeir was 17, in 1999, he went to Ohio for a year, as an exchange student. This was before facebook, before skype, I can´t even remember we exchanged emails. We had cell phones, but the connection between Norway and USA was not good. Some times it could take a day or two for a text message to reach us. Torgeir wrote letters and sent postcards though. I have collected them all. Later Torgeir went to Australia to study for three years. We skyped once a week then, and no letters, only a few postcards came.
Ingrid spent three months on Bali, a few years ago. Skype, facebook and emails were good to have. And also the blog she set up during her stay.
Øystein travels a lot for his job. He knows that his silver haired mother back in Norway, or somewhere else in the world, loves text messages on her phone. And as the perfect son he is, he also know that I collect hotel stationary :-) Torgeir continue to travel a lot, and I can follow him on twitter.
Marta is in Kenya for 12 days. Travelling with a youth group from The Salvation Army here in Trondheim. We didn´t know before she left if she would be able to get online, but to my great pleasure the hotel where they are staying have a wi-fi service. She posts photos in instagram and we can chat on facebook. Last night we were even able to cyber hug each other natta, goodnight.....
....and I could go to bed singing
He´s got the whole world,
in his hands.
He´s got the whole wide world,
in his hands.
He´s got the whole world,
in his hands.
He´s got the whole world in his hands.
