The fittest of us were out running every morning, before breakfast, and already the first morning they discovered the pleasure of a Bosphorus swim. After some days a few more of the group came along, not for the running, but for the swim.
I am not among the fittest. I do love a challenge though, but when I heard the others talking about the huge, slippery stones, I knew it could eaily be too much of a challenge for my body. I walked down there one day, just to check I told myself, and my suspicion was confirmed. Neither the stones nor the breakers suited me.
What did suit me though, was to watch the fishermen.
Their patience. Their community. Their slow life.

I could have spent the whole week on Bosphorus.
In a boat. On the shore. And swimming if it had not been for the huge stones ;-)
One of many favorite moments from my week in Istanbul, was having dinner with Pinar on the shores of the sea.
Another favorite moment was sitting on the boat, lulled into sleep by the soft waves and the blowing wind, then awakened by a friend pointing to a kite high, high up in the sky.
