@brittarnhild
When I was a student, almost 35 years ago, I had a very good friend, Tone. We came from different places in Norway, we studied different topics, but we lived in the same student place, and spent many nights together talking, sharing our tales, laughing, crying.
After we finished our studies we kapt contact for a few years, though less and less, and then no contact at all........for more than 20 years.
Then, a couple of years ago, as I discovered HimalPartner, the Norwegian mission organization working in Nepal and Himalaya, I was interviewd in HimalPartner´s magazine about my commitment, Tone read the interview and took contact, and soon we were friends on facebook.
Tone is a driving force. She lives on an island on the western coast of Norway, and two years ago she organized a fleamarket day to raise money for HimalPartner.
When I learned this spring that she would do this again, I decided to make a visit.
Tone´s island is not far from our cabin, 45 minutes to drive, a 20 ,imutes ferry ride, 15 minutes to drive, a 6km tunnel under the ocean, 45 minutes to drive and we were there.
The HimalPartner fleamarket was yesterday.
Terje and I had breakfast at the cabin when the phone rang. It was Tone. "Britt-Arnhild, since you are coming today, and since you have been to Nepal and seen the project Higher Ground in person, can you tell us a little about it when you come?"
Of course I said YES!
Higher Ground, with a vision to work agains human powerty and trafficing of young Nepali girls. In Kathmandu in April I visited their jewellry shop, with handmade jewels made by local girls, I visited the bakery they run, and had lunch in a restaurant also run by Higher Ground.
What a joy to be able to share with so many enthusiast a few of my impressions.
What a joy to take part in a "make a change"-vision.
And what a joy and blessing to continue a friendship which has been sleeping for so many years.
May God richly bless you and your work Tone.
