Last summer, in California, Terje bought me a note book cover. It is a lovely piece of art, and I promptly started to use it to cover my journal. For months I brought it with me everywhere, as I do with my diary. The cover bore the marks of daily use, and also it made my journal almost too big for my purse. It was time to find another use for the cover.
For a few weeks it was laying on my desk in my blue studio. I knew I wanted to use it for something special, but didn´t quite know what.
Then one day, when I was tidying a few cupboards up in the studio, I found a plain, black, hardbound notebook. Just like the ones I use for travel diaries. My first though was to store it away, for some upcoming travels, but then I got a better idea. A much better one.
I would use it as my book of prayers.
And I would cover it with the deep green book cover, the dragonfly book cover.
This morning, as every morning, I have a pile of three books in front of me. Two of the books belong to the pile, the third is there for a few days, a few weeks, then I change it with another one, which will again eventually be changed.
The Bible and the dragonfly book of prayers. They belong there. Every day. For the moment they are accompanied by the Swedish bishop emeritus´Martin Lønnebo´s Garden of Prayers. Which, in a few days will be rem, oved to a bookshelf, and Richard Blackaby´s The Season of God will find its place in the pile.
Beside the pile is a cup of steaming hot rosemary tea. Fresh leaves in boiling water, remove the leaves after five minutes, drink while being silent, with the Lord.
In my dragonfly book of prayers I have recently added a long list of Nepali people.
This morning I find a blank page in my book. There I write down the name of my cousin B. Then I add her four year old son, her other children, her husband, her mother..........
B has cancer and has just finished months of hard treatment.
Yesterday she learned that the cancer has spread.
If you believe in prayers, as I know so many of you do, please keep B and her family in them.
Let us make our prayers a notebook cover of peace, blessings and healing, to cover B´s life.
The hydrangea photos are from The Garden of Dreams in Kathmandu.

By the way, my dragonfly covered book of prayers has more white pages. Do you have a special praying request? Let me know and I´ll add it in my book.......and in my prayers.
