I have lived in this city all my life. Almost 55 years. I have worked downtown for the last 13 years. Every day I pass the cathedral.
I can be east of the sun, west of the moon, travelling the world.
But this cathedral, this city,
I always carry it in my heart.
I have a busy period of travels ahead.
But a piece of my heart will
always stay behind.

In two days my father in law will turn 90. A milestone. The last couple of weeks have been tuff, but he is of stubborn roots, and now we are all busy preparing the birthday party which will be held on Saturday.
Terje and I are looking through old photos, searching for shots to be used in a powerpoint memory presentation.
Torgeir, the oldest grandchild, with farfar.
Øystein, grandchild #2 harvesting apples with farmor and farfar in their garden. When Torgeir was 8 and Øystein 6 they flew down to Moi, alone for their first time. I had sent with them a camera, an oldfashioned one, and the boys shot film after film. One whole film consisted of Torgeir and Øystein climing in the fruit trees, one at a time, trying to hide for the other with the camrea. Their own "where is Willy" :-)
Ingrid Elise, our third child, but the sixth in a series of grandchildren. Here she is where she loved most of all to be, in farfar´s lap, listeing to him reading from Terje´s fairytale book.

Less than two years ago Norway got a 12th bishop, a preciding bishop. Her cathedral is Nidaros cathedral, her diocese is Nidaros diocese. Her office is in The Archbishop´s Palace (and another office is in Oslo) For as long as bishop Helga has worked with us, a coat for the new bishop has been in progress. Today the new coat was finished, on Thursday bishop Helga will use it in London at the enthronement of the new Archbishop og Canterbury. Then again in Nidaros Cathedral on Easter Day.
Media came for the presentation today, when the two artists told about their work, and their thoughts while working on the coat.
And I was there with my camera of course :-)
Unlike most other churches we don´t have much pomp and circumstances in The Church of Norway. But today was an important day, at least in my oppinion :-)

Sure Ridgely, life is a great adventure.
Every day is. (thanks for your comment by the way)
Like this morning when I went to work and a blue sky with white clouds laced by the branches of a bare tree, greeted me.
I worked my great adventure hours,
and now I am back home waiting for dinner to be ready.
Potatoes, carrots, broccoli, cod, olive oil, salt and pepper baking in the oven. Terje is back home from his father. So is Marta....with baskets full of cheerleading tales to tell.
We listen and love her voice and her experiences.
Later we will have a nap, we will have coffee and a piece of cake, we will watch the news, we will search the computer and our old paper photos for images of the kids together with my father in law (he is doing better and we are hoping for a 90th birthday celebration in a few days), I will sit down with my book, and before going to bed, Terje and I will treat ourselves with a couple of salted biscuits with brie, grapes, a small glass of wine.
An ordinary day.
A Life is a Great Adventure day.

We are still in the period of Lent. This year I am using Lent as a time to seek more silence, more peace, more time for Bible study, for prayers and reflections. More time with Jesus. And more time for doing nothing. Like this morning when I sat in my favorite armchair with a book in my lap. But instead of reading I let my thoughts wander, wander wherever they wanted to go. Outside the window one of our squirrels was busy eating sunflower seeds from the bird feeder. Our eyes met, and for a long time we were both still, silent, without movements. Time didn´t excist, there was no running here, there, everywhere I had to do. The squirrel could have eaten, but took a break to be right in the middle of eternity. I could have opened my book, but took a break to be right in the middle of eternity.
Precious moment.
A moment outside time.
A moment in the middle of time.
I am going to fight for these moments.
I will continue baking my own bread, growing my potatoes, handwrite my letters, smell my roses, meeting the eyes of my squirrel, play the piano, taste the first snow flakes, shower in the summer rain, pick our own berries, sit down with nothing to do.....with everything to do doing nothing.
I know and I am thankful that I have so many of you with me.
Together we will make the world a place where generations can continue to live and love.

I have been so busy, I almost forgot to blog.......

I am hooked on instagram these days. Every day I post a #brittarnhildsquiz, with photos from my around the world travels, asking #whereamI
I get a lot of likes, some wrong guesses, some correct ones, comments, new friends.
In between this I post other photos, more "as I go" from my cell phone.
Instagram is easy, it is fast, it is fun.
It almost makes me quit blogging.
But only ALMOST!
Everything is so fast these days.
I don´t want to buy a ticket on that carousel.
But as so many free tickets are given out, it is hard to say no.
I have almost stopped writing letters. Emails are so much faster.
But never in a million ways can they be compared.
I used to write at least one letter every day. Now I have not written a single one since January.
I don´t want blogging to disappear from my life, just like letter writing is threatening to do.
I think fewer people read blogs.
I know fewer people comment on blogs.
Is this how we want our future to be?
Fast food. Fast mail. Fast everything............
I have some thoughts on fastfood and cooking and what we want to pay or not pay for food as well,
but that´s a blogpost for another day......

Marius is out of the hospital today! Yesterday he was still in great pains. Today he took the bus home from the hospital, and when I called him a few hours later I could "see" his broad smile and happiness through my cellphone. And enthusiastically he told me that he and Ingrid were on their way to Granåsen and the FIS World Cup in ski jumping. On cruches!
Terjs is at Moi now. My father in law is still in hospital, but better, and will probably be transfered to a nursing home next week.
I have not heard from Carolyn.
Susan, I've been praying for your flight.
Anne, I am praying for your cousin.
Kristi, I am praying for your son.
ARR, your husband and your daughter are in my prayers.
naturegirl, I will remember Lynda and MsM
Marily, as I write this I pray for your daughter.
I am home alone this weekend.
And will ENJOY every second.
And I will be happy and thankful when Terje and Marta are back

My father in law will be 90 next Friday.
We will drive down to Moi to celebrate with him. Originally we had planned a huge party. Then he was hospitalized a few days ago, and we need to change plans.
For the moment no new plans are set.
We need to wait and see.
Marius had ACL surgery in Oslo two weeks ago. Everything went well.....at first. Then complications occured, and now he has been in hospital here in Trondheim for a week. Nothing serious, still he needs care and time.
An internet friend has a serious decision to make these days. Will it be the right thing to keep on treating her husband, or is it time to stop now and let him rest in peace.

A little girl was chasing the crows.
Oh, to be a girl again. Chasing.Playing.
I was watching this girl when I was out walking.
Dreamed myself 50 years back in time.
Then I realised...... at 55 I can still be this girl. I can still open my senses and let the world play with me. I can still open my mind and play with the world.

I was in Oslo yesterday. A lot of airport waiting, came home way too late.
But between the seminar I attended and the waiting, I had given myself some time just for ME.
ME-time can be used in many different ways.
Mine often includes books, food and photographing.
Books: walking from where my seminar was, downtown towards the airport train, I stopped at Litteraturhuset, and found some great treats. Good thing I had a suitcase with me ;-)
Food: before going out to the airport.......and all the extra waiting, I had fish soup at http://www.opera-huset.no/no/Oslo Opera House.
There I sat for a long time, eating, watching people and......
playing with my camera.
