John LeMond, one of the pastors at Tao Fong Shan, took us to Wong Tai Sin Temple.
John, originally an American, has spent more than 20 years here, and know the area and the people very well.
And he is an amazingly good guide, sharing his knowledge freely.
While we walked around, John told us about Wong Tai Sin, a shepherd living at the time of the Jin Dynasty. His temple is now one of the most famous shrines in Hong Kong.
The temple area was crapmed with people, many of them burning fragrant sticks, or asking the fortune tellers for advice.
"Who do you worship?" John asked a young woman. She didn´t understand the question. She didn´t worship, she was seeking happiness.
In Hong Kong you can hardly go anywhere without being surrounded by skyskrapers. So also in the temple area.
How I would have loved to live close to my church, a reminder of mt Creator, my Saviour, my Redeemer every day. A place to worship.
A place to live with my Father.
But of course, my Father is with me everywhere I go. And I can worship here, there, everywhere.
Thank you John for taking us along, thanks for your information.
May our God keep on blessing your work.
