I have eaten my meals alone this weekend. Yesterday I created a quiche, with broccoli, shrimps, sour cream, eggs and cheese. I set the table with nice china. I lit the first candle in the advent wreath. After the meal I made myself a cup of espresso, drinking it from an antique purple and gold tiny lttle cup. A small piece of marzipan covered in dark chocolate.
Being alone for one weekend is pure bliss. More so since I knew Terje and Marta would soon be back home, Torgeir, Øystein and Ingrid will soon be here for the holidays.
Guests will come.
The house will be full.
There are room for guests around my table.
During Lent I take part in a campaign run by Norwegian Church Aid, "invite a guest for dinner" - which means that every day during Lent I put aside the money I would have used to make extra food for a guest. When Easter comes I send the money to NCA and they pass them along to somewhere in the world where they are needed.
I will do the same through Advent, my "An Extra Advent Plate" campaign.
During Lent, NCA will get my extra money. The Extra Advent Plate will be given to the people of Himalaya, through HimalPartner
Do you have room for an extra plate around your table this Advent?
Who will you invite?
