Somewhere along the western coast of Norway you find a tiny little village, Fjærland. When the traffic changed many years ago, the village was about to close down......but then a smart brain decided to make the village into a book town.
We had already visited Fhærland twice during previous travels, and wanted to show Jane and Lanny this charming place.
The western coast of Norway has so many places we wanted to share, and time passed too fast for us every day. At some point it looked like there would be no time for the book town.....but in the end we got half an hour.
Half an hour.
Time enough to find and to buy several books :-)
Jane and Lanny also walked around with us, searching for books for me!!!!!! And found me a treasure; Garrison Keillor's We Are Still Married.
I have started to read it, started to laugh of Keillor's funny style, starting to prepare myself for USA next summer.
The books I bought myself:
American in Italy by Herbert Kubly (from 1955)
The Society of Renaissance Florence, A Documentary Study, edited by Gene Brucker (1971)
Anthony Trollope's The Collected Shorter Fiction, edited by Julian Thompson
Before coming to USA next summer I want to prepare myself my reading American litterature the coming winter.
Now I need YOU to help me set up a reading list.
What do you suggest?
