Several of you have asked about the books I bought at Shakespeare & Company Bookstore in Paris. I ended up with 6 books, and here is the list:
Hemingway lived in Paris for some years in the 1920ies, and many years later he wrote this short, readable memory. As I said yesterday, Shakespeare & Company (the old one) has its own chapter in the book.
Frances Mayes, you know the writer of Under a Tuscan Sun, introduced me to Colette a few years ago, in her A Year in the World. Since then I've read many of Colette's books, but never a biography about her. Now I have this one waiting.....it will be a wonderful reading winter :-)
...
Reading about the places I visit, before, during and after a travel, is always fascinating. With these two books about Paris I am sure to have a perfect armchairtravelling winter.
I found this one on my first visit, and couldn't resist it.
Listen to what the back cover says about this book: Bambert lives in his attic home. Alone and out of place in the world he finds solace in the characters he creates in stories......One day, Bambert decides so send his eleven stories out into the world, to find their own (true) setting. Attaching them to paper baloons, he releases them on a windy night. But the eleventh story is blank and he hopes it will write itself........
Of course I had to buy it!

My list of books to read is growing fast. A few nights ago I got an email from my very dear friend Antonella where she wrote that she is reading A-S-Byatt's The Children's Book. Antonella and I share a deep love for A.S.Byatt's books, I had just finished the book I was reading and already had The Children's Book waiting, so now I am deep into it. Thank you Antonella.
Then I got an email from a blogreader, Phyllis.......But, the real reason for writing is to tell you about my favorite book and suggest you add it to your list for future. Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese..It will take you to Ethiopia! and it will tell a story the likes of which you have never heard before. You won't get anything done once you start it because you won't be able to put it down!! Well, I have this book also, in my pile of books waiting to be read (another suggestion I got from Frances Mayes, from her blog this summer) and now, thanks to Phyllis, it is moved up in the pile to be read after The Children's Book. Thank you Phyllis.

Thank to the special giveaway. I was so thrilled yesterday to read all your wonderful comments, looks like we are a gang of book readers, book buyers and booklovers. I have no possibility to write you all back, then there will be no reading time left ;-), so I've decided to pick one of you from the comments on today's post. The winner will get a copy of my very own book. The book I wrote about Lent and Lental traditions a few years ago. It is in Norwegian, but filled with photos as well as words, so non-Norwegian speakers should also find a few treasures in it.
Here is a link to a page where you can flip through the whole book online.

Now I am eagerly awaiting your comments.

By the way, today's photo: a window at our hospital, St.Olav's. I would love outside curtains like that!
