It is early and the cathedral is still almost dark. Ans quiet. Only a few hours before it was filled with people, a concert. I can hear a weak ecco of the music in the old stones.
I walk around. Wordless prayers. Humming a thank silently. Talking with God. Opening my heart to hear what God says to me.
Pilgrims have come here for almost a thousand years. The air is filled with prayers.
An altar in the middle of the church has a candle almost tipping over. Blown on by The Holy Spirit?
My favorite side altar with Håkon Gulvaag's paitings. Like a pandura's box. I sit down and listen to the cathedral filling with singing. A choir is practicing. My cell phone rings. Merisi from Vienna wants to hear how we are coping with the closed airports. Is sorry for me probably not making it to Italy. The choir fills the air between Trondheim and Vienna, giving us a concert, deepening our friendship.
I say goodbye to Merisi and walk up the isle to greet the dean. It is his last service. After 14 years as the dean of the cathderal he is now moving...... elsewhere.
An update:
During the mass my brother Børge got a phone call from his wife in Iceland. A few planes would leave Reykjavik for Trondheim, he could go back on one of them. He is back home safe now.
Ingrid and Marius made it from Lofoten to Trondheim without problems late last night.
Torgeir phoned from New York several times last night, and our dinner party of 14 all took part in guessing - will he make it home or not. Now we haven't heard from him in about 10 hours, which means he will be on a plane somewhere over the Atlantic!
My brother Frode got his plane from South Africa cancelled. And was booken on a plane for the 30th of April!!!!! I can't believe it!
I still don't know what will happen to my travel to Italy. It is no option to delay it, due to people I will meet there already on Thursday. I will keep you updated.
