Every season has its own unique charm. After a wet and cold autumn so far in The Blue Garden, the sun is here today for a short visit. The late, cold autumn sun, still with the power to let a warm palette of fall colours brighten my day. Roses stiff dead by last night's frost are like pieces of art. Sweet peas have shared their beauty right into the moment of death.... and beyond. The frosen earth is hard to walk on, my red wellington boots make clear, crisp, visible tracks.
As always autumn has been too busy, frost came too fast, I have been unable to save all the perennials which need a long, dark sleep down in the basement. Luckily many of them are stubborn, and I carry pot after pot, remembering the beauty they have shared through long, light months, hugging them to share some of my own warmth hoping it will help them through the dark winter.
Autumn in The Blue Garden. My fingers are stiff from the icy cold.
Charm and beauty.
Love.
