The new Trondheim blog I am creating is opening my eyes for my surroundings. Saturday morning I went downtown right after breakfast and walked around with my camera for a couple of hours. Sunday I asked Terje and Marta if they wanted to come with me -I had a museum, a café and an art exhibition in mind.
I have passed the museum so many times, The Jewish Museum, but never found an opportunity to visit. When I passed again on Saturday, Sabbath, it was closed and I decided to come back the next day.
More about the visit here is described in Trondheim through all Seasons.
The Jews in Trondheim were like Jews from the rest of Europe during the war. Most of the men, aso many of the women and the children, were sent to death camps in Germany and Poland, few came back. A young girl, Cissi Klein, was among them, and her statue can now be seen at Cicci Kleins Plass.
It is important to remember history.
Then it was time for coffee. Café 9 Muserhas been renovated since last time I visited. It has aways been a lovely place, now even better.
Caffee Latte and a sweet, sweet temptation, chocolate cake with chili and icecream. One bite and I was hooked!
The last "goal", Trondheim Kunstforening, the house next door to the café.
The currant exhibition - paintings and sculptures by the Danish Per Kirkeby. Here we walked in our own speed, crossing paths from time to time to look at a special interesting painting, to discuss a detail or a title, to share views on Kirkeby's expression.
On our way home we passed Café 9 Muser again. I coudn't resist taking a photo in through the window.
