King Harald and Queen Sonja of Norway had visitors from abroad last week. The President of Ireland Mrs. Mary McAleese and her husband. On Thursday they were visiting Trondheim.
When I walked from the bus, passing the cathedral and over to the Archbishop's Palace Thursday morning, workmen were busy sweeping the surface. Poor kings, queens and presidents, are they never able to walk on the crisp and playful colours of the autumn? I wonder if husbands of presidents are?
Not walk on, not play with, not even able to see the dancing leaves in the grass.....
The President and her husband would use our lunchroom as a place to rest during a long day. We had a busy morning decorating with flags and flowers in the Irish colours.
I would hate not being able to dig myself deep in autumn leaves, but I would love to find every room decorated with flowers. But being a queen or a president? No, that's not for me.
School children filled up the palace courtyard early, and when the Royals and their guests arrived, they were greeted by songs and horrays.

We were short of people in the office that day and circumstance wanted me to sit in the reception. Therefor I was the first one the Precident saw when she came in, and she and her husband came right over to greet me and shake hands. It made my day of course :-)
