Inspiration is there somewhere, flying around in universe. Waiting for the right meeting.
At the cabin I am reading Country Living (British Edition), Marta comes and while flipping through it, enjoying its beautiful photos, she is suddenly stuck In Cupcake Heaven.
Through a few pages she meets Kate Shirazi and her adventure with fantastic, colourful cupcakes. Marta is hooked! How is it possible to make cupcakes like this? A new universe opens up for her.
"You know" I say to her, "you can make such cupcakes yourself." She looks at me with just those eyes, without words letting me know that she thinks I am totally nuts. "Mum, these are piece of art. I could never in a million years make anything like them".
Wise, as only a mother of four can be, I keep my mouth shot, but a few days later, back home in our own kitchen, I ask Marta if she would like to make a few cupcakes for our after dinner coffee. I leave her to the task and climb the stairs up to my studio, and an hour later she calls up to me: "Mum, I have something to show you!" I can hear a broad smile in her voice.
The coffee table is set, and a heavenly blue plate shines like an eye apple from the middle of the table. Marta has made her cupcakes, or "muffins" as we call them in Norway.
Now, a few days later, I have shown her Kate Shirazi's webpage, and Marta has started to dream about making her own cupcake company. And almost every afternoon she is busy in the kitchen. While I am writing this she has a friend here, they have just been grocery shopping for some we-don't-have-it-in-our-cupboard items, and have started to make a chocolate cake, using a quite new recipe.
Marta met inspiration in Kate's cupcake heaven, Cakeadoodledo, I am curious to see where this leads her.
