I work long hours these days, and when I left work yesterday afternoon, the archbishop's palace was all dark and empty. I was about the set the alarm when one of my colleagues arrived. He is a 24/7 worker, and had just come back from 4 days at the British Library in London where he had done some research.
"Hi", he said, "how has your week been?" "Oh, you know, quite busy because of the conference coming up next week with me in main charge." I replied. He smiled. "Good for you then that I have been abroad. I'll bring a box of benedict mint chocolate for all of us tomorrow."
Benedict mint chocolate! My all time chocolate favorite! Oh no, why did I decide to give up chocolates for Lent?
This is only the third day of Lent, and I am missing chocolate..........still almost 40 days to go. I can't pretend that I am busy at lunch tomorrow, we will have a celebration which has been planned for some time, and I don't want to be left out of that!
Ash Wednesday I was a very good girl though. I was in Oslo for a meeting with my publisher discussing my next book. Leaving their office I suddenly passed a Pascal where I've never been before. My feet automatically took me inside for a latte, but I resisted the sparkling rainbow of macarons :-)
My days do have some rays of sun though;-) - Sundays are feast days also during Lent and I have a few chocolate dreams left over from last week. And last night Marta, our chef apprentice, made "Coffee Whip" for me and Terje. With some tiny splints of chocolate. I can't say no to Marta, can I, so it doesn't count...........or?
