Do you know what a superflous antler is? An antler where what is inside flows superfluously out to bless the recievers?
Yesterday was my superfluous antler day.
It was time for a double celebration; Terje's birthday and the publishing of my first book.
We started our night out at the art cafe Ni Muser where we had caffee lattes and superfluous time for chatting. Went from there over to Trøndelag Teater to see The Wild Duck
(more about that in The Blue Bookshelf)
Right across the theatre, in a small old wooden house, lies the gourmet restaurant Emilies. Only a few tables, food from heaven. We sat down to enjoy their six course menu with small surprisingly amuse-bouche
in between to really tease our taste buds. Wines specially chosen for each new creation.
The menu was a superfluous mixture of vegetables, fish, meat, cheese and sweets. I wish I could explain it all in detail, but as I have the menu only in Norwegian, and there are so many words I am unable to translate, I will keep you in superfluous ignorance. (We can go to Emilies for a meal when you come to Trondheim
I do have a little teaser for Carol though. On one of the small plates with superfluous amuse-bouche was a miniature macaron. With a taste to die for! I have already lost my innocence though, so I did survive.Yes, Carol, I tried to take a photo for you, but I had only my small camera with me, and the atmosphere in the restaurant was too romantic for flash, so this mysterious one is what I ended up with. There should be shadows enough for you though :-)
A six course meal is not what I do often, I think you can count my experiences with the fingers on one hand. One of the main focuses in my book about Lent is the difference between feasts and everydays. Yesterday was a big feast, and felt bigger because most of our days are everydays. I will write more about this changing rythm when the period of lent comes.
