This day has been marked in my calendar for a long time. I am writing my Christmas letters.
I am well prepared. My laptop with all my photos from 2007 which will be used for the annual family letter, a basket filled with small felted ornaments which I have been working on the past weeks, for stuffing letters to dear friends, another basket filled with different types of cards and stationary, my address book, photos, small gifts, bookmarks, papercut ornaments - to fill envelopes.
Looking out my window I see the postman coming with her arms filled with post. Every day now we get colourful envelopes, words of love and friendship from family and friends nearby and far away.
I met a very special "postman" the other day. A young deaf girl here in Trondheim has been to Eritrea to visit the deaf school of Keren. There she met "our" daughter Yodith, and now she brought a gift and a letter from Yodit to me.
I will visit the post office later today, bringing my friendship tokens to be sent out to all corners of the world.
Photo: outside my studio window. They say that people don't send "real" Christmas letters anymore. Well, at least I am doing my part!
