During our week along the western coast of Norway I read Kristin Lavransdatter, and we "met" Sigrid Undset several times during our travel. On our way back home to Trondheim we stopped at Lillehammer where Bjerkebæk, the beautiful home of Sigrid Undset, was opened for the public earlier this summer.
Walking around inside the two houses and the hallway that connects them, I am mesmerized. Here is where Undset wrote her books and essays, here is where she said her prayers, here is where she spent hours reading from one of the books in her library of more than 10 000 books. My eyes dance along the bookshelves. The titles blend together. But suddenly my eyes halt. One title shines like gold before my eyes, Mother India by Katherine Mayo. That's one of the books I bought in Fjærland.
Back in the car I open my bookbag and takes out the book. I am invited to come to India to visit a dear friend, and bought this book to start my travel preparations. Sigrid Undset has pointed out my next travel to me.
This post should explain my guessing game. Wendy, you are the winner. I am working on your story.
