The past weeks alot of my travelling has been through reading. I have a traveller's soul, and a mind wandering in search of new land, new places. This can be found in books, in art, in music, in walking, in travelling. The world with its people is a place to explore, I am free to use eyes, ears and heart to explore it.
Monday night I took the night train north. My goal was Rognan, a small village north of the artic circle. I had meetings there, but whenever I travel through, work I always sneak in, if only a few minutes, a traveller's time, following my traveller's mind.
I had an hour in the morning, walking from the railway station to the church where my meeting was to be held. The walk took 20 minutes, so I took a detour into the village center and down to the harbour.
Winter in Norway, early morning, everything is closed. Nowhere to buy a cup of coffee, nowhere to buy a postcard or a newspaper. But beautiful nature in all directions. Mountains and fjord, snow, blue sky, sun.
Wandering around. Alone. A stranger. Mind floating. What is it like to live here? To love here? Being a child, a young mother, growing old? The world feels so huge. The night train took almost nine hours from Trondheim to Rognan, but the distance can hardly be seen on a globe. The world feels so small, like a blue marble. Luc Besson's movie is shown at a small village cinema at Rognan, people near the Mexican Gulf have been swimming in the blue water before it found its way to this small Norwegian fjord, through internet I was connected to the whole world later that day.
The world belong to us the short time we walk here. Where do we let our steps take us?
