Last Friday I flew to Newcastle and spent the day in the city. The next morning we were picked up by a bus to drive to Lindisfarne, but on the way we took a detour down to Durham to visit the wonderful cathedral, and to see where St.Cuthbert is burried.
When I now look back I see the huge difference between small and quiet Lindisfarne and the huge, almost sterling cathedral. I walked around alone for an hour, and what stuck me most was the wonderful play of light through the different cathedral windows.
The first photo shows the Millenium stained glass window. It was dedicated to the cathedral the 22 March 1997, to celebrate the 1000 anniversary of the arrival of the shrine of St. Cuthbert at Durham, and thereby the foundation of the Diocese. Second photo shows The Last Supper Table by Colin Wilbourn, which is to be found in the Galilee Chapel. Again I am amazed by how God lets the light shine.
