Cabin life means reading (and knitting and hiking and bird watching and good food and and and.......)
Some time ago, early last year I think it was, I discovered a video about Maud Lewis and her folk art painting.
Not long afterwards, by the help of a good friend in Seattle, I was the proud owner of three books about Maud;
The Painted House of Maud Lewis,
Capturing Joy, The Story of Maud Lewis,
and The Illuminated Life of Maud Lewis.
Amazing tales of an amazing woman.
Maud Lewis is a Canadian, Nova Scotia artist, born in 1903, died in 1970. She lived with her husband in the tiniest little house, and to earn money for living she started to paint, selling her naive art for what she could get. The books shows many of her colourful paintings, and tell the tale of her life. I never read them from cover to cover, but live to pick one or two or three of them up and flip through them.
