Back in March and April I was preparing for a travel to Venezia/Venice and I started the Venice Book List. I was sure this list would go on for ever and ever, though somehow it stopped after book 12. Or rather, it got a break after book 12. I still have tons of Venice books to write about, and might still continue the list some day. May be when next I plan a Venezia travel. Who knows :-)
Books from and about Venice is a passion I have. I have several collections on books set on cities and countries though. Travel books and books connected to places have been a passion of mine for years. Actually ever since I was a teenager, which I stopped being 36 years ago.
It started with England and London. I went there for the first time when I was 16, on a summer language school in Hastings, with two visits to London, one to Paris during my stay. Then back again to London for two weeks with a friend when I was 19. Since then I have continued to go back again, and again and again.......and I never stopped.
My next London and beyond travel will start in three weeks, and I have started my preparations, which means I´ve started to make a pile of books to read before, along and after.
Two things on my list for the upcoming travel is to visit Charleston House in Sussex, and the Virginia Woolf exhibition on The National Portrait Gallery. Naturally then "Charleston, a Bloomsbury house & garden" and "Vanessa and Virginia" are first out on my London Book List. As a matter of fact, they were the first books I wrote about in this blog.
