It was early Sunday morning and I had been sitting with my coffee for a long time. Just as I was about to pay and leave, the signore at the neighbor table looked at me, smiled and said ciao. I smiled and said ciao back, and an hour later we were still sitting there talking. Dr. Carlo Feli is a Venetian, he knows the city like nobody else and he loves to share his knowledge.
Our talking ended with a guided tour, special for me, and since then it has been many guided tours, special for me, for my family and also for friends visiting Venice.
Some books are like local travel companions, taking you on tours.
Venice, a travellers´companion, selected and introduced by John Julius Norwich is one of those books. A book I never tire to travel with.
(and inside the book I have a few of the letters I´ve got from Carlo over the years)
By the way, today I wrote dottore Feli a letter, and I am hoping to see him later this month.
