As autumn is approaching with her shorter days, her cold winds, her mixture of low, bright sun and pouring rain, I crave for comfort food. Something tasty and hot to warm my fingertips and my toes, to wrap my shoulders before the first snow falls.
Soup, the food created for autumns.
I find vegetabels in the fridge. Fry garlic and onion in olive oil. Add a mixture of kale, squash and broccoli. Sprinkle salt from the salt mines in Krakow, pepper from a market in Rome, coriander from the souk in Aleppo, vegeta, water.
Let it boil for half an hour.
While a comforting fragrance fills the house, and I wonder how long it will be until everybody are back from wherever they are, seated around the table, I mix the vegetables into a smooth soup.
It is soup time in The Blue Café.
Soup, the comfort foor for autumn.
