An old dream came true today when I got the possibility to visit the Arctic Alpine Botanical Garden in Tromsø, the world´s northernmost botanic garden. I am in Tromsø for a couple of days for work, and as I had some extra time I knew exactly how to spend it. The garden of course.
It is hard to believe that you can have a botanical garden at all up here, with such long winter when it is dark all day. But then the short, intense midnightsun summer months come, and nature explodes.
Explodes in a way you have to see with your own eyes to believe.
I had a few hours, on my way from the airport to the hotel, and had to drag my suitcase and my carry on backpack, but the beauty of the sun, the blue sky, the snow covered mountains and the flowers made me forget all heaviness.
I remember it again now though, or rather, my neck remembers.
Enjoy a few of my photos.
